Training Halter Range - Black Dog Wear's Popular Training Halter!
Sizes: Mini/ XSmall, Small, Medium, Large & XLarge* *(New size added 2019)
This Classic style halter (classic because it connects to the lead under the dog's jaw) has been the Halter of choice for trainers for many years.
The dynamic design allows the Halter to move as the dog moves, leaving the Nose Bridge strap to sit comfortably in the same position, this means it doesn't tend to ride up close to the dog's eyes and the dog is more content while wearing the Halter.
Reward your dog, when introducing it to the Halter and throughout the first week, particularly when you first fit the Halter and as your dog works well on lead.
Fitting is simple...
Measuring your dog for a Training Halter
You could guess the size, but it would be like buying an outfit without even trying it on, so here is info on how to get the best fit for your dog.
The Noseband and Cords on the Training Halter allow for a adjustment, so we base the sizing on a dog's neck measurement
Use a soft tape measure place it around your dog's neck up close behind the ears, this is where the neck strap should fit and take a snug to tight neck measurement.
Important: If your dog fits between 2 sizes, generally select the smaller size.
UNLESS you are fitting a growing dog in which case you should go for the larger size to allow for future growth.
Check your dog's neck measurement against the ORANGE chart below, to select the appropriate size for your Training Halter.
**Please keep a close eye on your dog and supervise whenever wearing the halter as the cord is close to the teeth and can be chewed through.
***NEVER use the Halter attached to the O-ring WITHOUT the noseband being around the dogs nose.
This will cause extra stress on the cord sewn into the collar strap & pressure on the O-ring.
***All our webbing & components are strength tested to ensure no snapping or breaking can occur to help keep our doggies safe!
If your dog is too small or too big for these measurements please contact us for a custom halter we can make for you.

Fabulous Training Tool
By: Caroline on 7 December 2022As a Dog Trainer, I use these Training Halters for the majority of the dogs I work with. Not only does the halter help owners physically control their larger, stronger dogs, but we also use the concept of pressure on/pressure off to clarify to the dog when they are making the correct decisions about how to behave. The design of the halter has the pressure points on bone rather than soft tissue, and the cotton material means the halter doesn't slide around on the dog's face as much as a nylon product, nor does it loosen off when in use. Great training halter
By: Margaret Ellis on 25 July 2022We have big dogs that pull and I have tried multiple items but nothing worked. The Cairns Rescue Dog team were at our local show and introduced me to the Training Halter. It works perfectly on our young dog and has stopped her pulling. I am still working on getting the older dog used to it. Great product and it seems comfortable for the dogs to wear.

Great design with flat collar option, dog excepts
By: Susan on 27 February 2022Great design, the fact you can attach your lead to the flat collar or the martingale without removing the noseband is fantastic. I use the halter for my whippet who displays reactivity towards other dogs. Although he previously walked well on a martingale, due to his reactivity he has become less focused. I am finding he settles much quicker after an encounter, combined with other training techniques. This is definitely a positive additional to my training toolbag.

Love it
By: Angie on 13 January 2022Absolutely love this halti. We have a 15 month old German shepherd pup and out trainer recommend this halti to help with walking her and it’s brilliant. We also found compared to a different brand halti we have it sits better on her face and does push up into her eyes

Today was our first walk
By: Stephanie on 25 November 2021Today was our first walk with our 11 month old Labradoodle and the Black dog training halter - it was also the first time I haven't had my arm pulled off when out and about. Very happy with the quick postage, quality of the collar and the final outcome. I think we'll both be enjoying our walks so much more more going forward.
